Pruning the pines at this residence was a unique treat for my crew and I. Why? Most pines that we encounter are in various states and conditions from never having been pruned in a Japanese style, to having been pruned long ago and are now derelict, to having been mispruned or balled by people who know nothing about proper aesthetic pruning techniques. In this case, however, these pines had been pruned by a real Japanese craftsman from Japan and were in exquisite condition for a change. The new owners of the house hired us to maintain this high quality, manicured appearance. Spring candle pruning rather than structural pruning was thus the main objective. With all due respect to the amazingly skilled Japanese craftsman who trained these pines and left them in this prime condition, we did make some minor pruning adjustments to the pines (which I explain in the video) to bring them to an even higher level of spectacular.
